Minions, the children's cartoon characters, are especially popular with middle-aged women. They like to make the minions say funny, kooky things that they can relate to. I'm not sure what the minion adds to these pictures, but a definite rhetorical choice is being made by including them.
Twitter “parody” accounts capitalizing on the popularity of the minion brand, such as @tinyminions and @typicalminions, racked up hundreds of thousands of followers peddling minion-themed content…
